The miracle of seeing twin fawns was inspiring during the past month. Sadly, yesterday as I was driving my hill country backroad I passed the ever present vultures tearing at the body of a little fawn. About one half mile further I passed another group of demon birds over the bloated body of the other small fawn. But what brought me to tears was the image of the mother deer one hundred yards away watching.

Nothing could be cuter than a baby deer standing right in front of you wondering who you are or what you are. This new fawn was high above the bluff over the Medina River in Pipe Creek.

What can be more amazing than little bitty bird faces staring at you from their nest? Who is to say where the better home is? Except maybe not over the opening door to a public high school in the hill country.

Girls and their Horses

How soon is tooo soon to be on a horse? Well....before your 2nd birthday is never toooo soon in my opinion. The lucky lady here is my granddaughter with a little help from a very close relative. All this horsin' around is happening in the Texas Hill Country near Austin.

Rare Painted Bunting Sighting

Who knew that a painted bunting was flying around my wild bird feeder and land on my clothesline? I've been trying to spot one in the Texas Hill Country since I heard about them in the late 90's. Beautiful with red and blue and yellow colors on their little bodies, they live in cedar trees. One might think it was a parrot or pretty robin if not for keen observation skills and a powerful camera lens. Thank you, Canon. Okay, in my excitement, I couldn't focus. I'm bad.
